Yesterday, while catching up on my 1 John study with Good Morning Girls, I read verse 1, which says:
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life –”
God’s word stays the same, it never changes, nor does his nature and his love. We have seen it at work throughout history and our own lives. Everything about God breathes life into our daily being. And everything about God’s nature should guide how and what we do and say.
There is a situation I am going through right now where I want to control it and DO something about it – every selfish ambition screams “You’ve got to do something! Fix it!”. Yet every spiritual thought whispers “Pray, just pray.”
While reading this verse, I knew just what I had to do. I prayed, surrendered the situation and people to the Lord, asking him to show me IF he wanted me to do anything, WHAT.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,”
And you know what? I got an exact answer within a couple of hours. Wow.
