These past two weeks we’ve been plugging away diligently at our work – without swimming lessons or co-op until next week, we’ve had 5 days to work with! Which is actually too much, but does leave us the flexibility of taking a day off to do some field trips, or allowing for some more relaxed days to get out and enjoy the nice weather!
In my life this week….
I had a birthday! Yesterday actually :0) We spent the day at my sister-in-law’s with her little guy, enjoyed the big backyard and some cousin time. My hubby’s parents babysat for a few hours while we tried out a new Thai Place – owned and operated by Christians! GREAT atmosphere (WORSHIP MUSIC PLAYING! HELLO!) and great food too! Plus, my mother-in-law called the place and told them it was my birthday, and they sang happy birthday and brought out deep fried plantains drizzled with chocolate and gave us a $10 gift card. So spoiled :D
In our homeschool this week…
Creativity was at its finest! I think it may have something to do with how much fresh air we’ve been getting.
The Boy is becoming so detail oriented in his pictures!
This one is of the troll underneath the bridge (from 3 Billy Goats Gruff) and that green thing? Is a speech balloon. LOL
He is quickly getting the hang of narration and responding to questions – the repetition in Writing With Ease is paying off! We are also working through The Door In the Wall with a novel study – everyone’s enjoying it!
JJ has finished all his capital letters with HWOT – which is a good thing, because we really need to work on lowercase!
They’ve had some pretty big fights this week, but they’ve also been working together really well – I’ve never seen them colour together though! This is a first!
Keekers jumps in to offer moral support and a head massage.
Reading has been happening all over the place – thanks to all the great new library books!
We have not been doing as many major read alouds as I would like, but lots of little books, too many to list! But the major ones are The Door in the Wall, Our Island Story, Blue Fairy Book and Trial and Triumph.
We also did a naked egg experiment, which was quite successful, and made some guesses as to how many times we could drop each one from a certain height. The magic number was 4 inches – we dropped it 7 times before it broke!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing….
Keekers learned Letter F and we did a zoo scavenger hunt. It was a beautiful day, all the animals cooperated, and we were just so taken in by the majesty of these creatures!
My favourite thing this week and I’m grateful for…
Spending time with the kids enjoying learning outdoors! And all the fresh air we got. Watching the kids work together, play together – even with all the fights, they still love each other!
Keekers love for raw (and cooked!) broccoli.
The blessing that is these children.
JJ taking his backpack everywhere and going on adventures.
